Abdulhamit Kırmızı is Assistant Professor of History at Istanbul Sehir University.

His primary interests are in nineteenth and early twentieth century, auto/biography, comparative history, administration, bureaucracy, empire, autocracy, and nationalism. He is dealing in particular with the complexity of governance and decision-making system of the late Ottoman Empire.

He is the author of Abdülhamid'in Valileri: Osmanli Vilayet İdaresi, 1895-1908 (Istanbul: Klasik, 2007) and Avlonyalı Sureyya Bey, Osmanlı Sonrası Arnavutluk, 1912-1920 (Istanbul: Klasik, 2009). He has published many articles on late Ottoman history and is founding co-editor of TALID (Türkiye Arastirmalari Literatür Dergisi/Turkish Studies Review).

He is writing a biography of the Albanian Avlonyali Ferid Pasha, Ottoman Grand Vizier (1903-1908) and former governor of Konya (1898-1902), who was also the cousin of Ismail Kemal Bey, and brother of Sureyya Bey, both founders of independent Albania in 1912.
